Paul Radford (1957-2024) was born in Australia but has lived in New Zealand for most of his life. He has a rich working history, as an exhibiting artist with over 30 solo shows and also in film and television as a scenic artist.
His work groups into series of paintings ( and sometimes sculpture ) which often betray an underlying disquiet or anxiety around our existence. In the work here he has combined figures from his early graffiti and cartoon based work with elements from his more recent investigations into the art of prehistory.
