This is another stunning charcoal drawing by Margaret Emsley, capturing a withered flower in incredible detail. The delicate, curling petals and deep shadows create a striking contrast, making the flower look almost lifelike. The texture of the dried petals is so realistic that you can almost feel their crispness. The soft background enhances the focus on the flower, emphasizing its fragile beauty. This artwork showcases both the fleeting nature of life and the elegance found in decay.

Margaret Emsley
I am drawn to flowers and insects. Lately I have been influenced by the early botanical artists who would sometimes deconstruct the flower, stem and leaves in order to portray each of its parts. Often the proportions were distorted and forms were exaggerated.
